My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Doral and I was left behind when my family moved and for a while, I was really relying on the kindness of strangers, trying to make my way on the streets. As luck would have it, I found my way to a kind person that really showed me the better side of humanity. When the weather got bad, they brought me into the house and - boy howdy, a warm bed and regular food, who could ask for anything more! The lady is a really good cook - I got busted stealing some people food off of plates. (oops!) There are other cats in the house and they are really not excited about my presence, so, I do try to stay out of their way. There is also a dog, an Australian Shepherd. I am not freaked out by him, but, well...not really a fan. Anyway, they do seem to have their quota of pets here, so they promised that they would help me to find a place of my own. What they will tell you about me, is that I really want to be a part of a family. I am not so much of a lap cat, but, get the gang together to watch a movie, and I will be right there!! They think I had lived with other cats, because, I do try to get them to like me, but they aren't interested. I do like being petted and brushed, but I sometimes get overstimulated, so younger kids might not be able to read my signs. I might be better with kids over 12. I have had a little bit of outside time, but I think a perch by the window to watch the world go by would be fine by me! I am current on my vaccines, microchipped and very good with the litterbox.May 2, 2024, 3:28 pm

More about this rescue

Founded in 1993, Second Chance Companions is a 501(c) 3 non-profit pet organization dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area.

We are a humane, no-kill organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Although we do not run an independent shelter, we feed, care for, adopt out, and spay & neuter as many animals as possible. In addition, we educate the community and are always seeking volunteers and resources that help us to accomplish our mission.

We have a small number of foster homes available, but also work with private owners who keep their pets while looking for homes for them.
