My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy there everyone! My name is Max and it is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I've been around the block a few times and know what I'm looking for in a forever home: leisurely walks, head scratches, a few treats here and there, and a loyal human by my side. I won't exhaust you with relentless games of fetch (although I'm not opposed to a few throws of a tennis ball...) or zoomies; I'm a laid-back guy hoping to just enjoy my retirement. How does all that sound to you?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When you adopt an animal, you’re not just saving the life of the animal you adopted. You’re also opening up space for the next animal in need. Our goal at the Morris Animal Refuge is to approach the adoption process holistically to make the best matches for our adopters and for our animals.

We are no longer requiring appointments or pre-approvals to adopt! Visit our shelter (1242 Lombard St) or PetSmart Adoption Center (2360 Oregon Ave.) during the following hours to adopt your new best friend. We will process your information at the time of adoption and in most cases your animal can go home with you on the same day.

More about this shelter

The Morris Animal Refuge is a 501(c)(3) shelter dedicated to helping the homeless, abandoned and unwanted pets of the Philadelphia region. Founded in 1874 by Elizabeth Morris, we were the first organization dedicated to sheltering and rehoming pets, and continue that legacy today by providing adoptions, a low-cost spay/neuter program, fostering, humane education and more.
