Jax likes having his humans close by. He's a 22-pound lap dog who loves to be petted. He is a social butterfly who gets along with everyone. He is easygoing, friendly, and playful with dogs, cats, and children of all ages. He might be cautious around some dogs and enjoys barking at the ones he meets during walks even though he wants to play with them. He likes to lead while on a leash and won't run away while off leash. He is moderately active and likes agility, car rides, fetch, running, tugging, toys, walks, water, chase and wrestling. He doesn't mind being by himself. He is house trained and always had free roam of the house. He'll sniff or come get you when he needs to go out. He is obedient and knows the sit, stay, come, and no commands. He only got into trouble for jumping up when he got excited. He was given up because of his owner's health. He has displayed food possession issues at the shelter so he'll need to live with children at least 12 years old. Please offer gentle, lovable Jax the home and family he needs. (tw 4/23/2024)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
