My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Manny!

Hi. My name is Manny. My foster mom calls me The Red Baron, well because I am red and I am a fighter. You see, back in December, I fell off a bed and shattered some disks in my back, leaving me partially paralyzed, unable to walk or go to the bathroom by myself. But believe it or not, Luck was on my side. As a young adult, I had surgery to fix my back and landed with my foster mom, who has been helping me learn to walk again and lose weight. I'm about 14 pounds and could lose another pound or two, I’m still not fully recovered, but each day, I get a little stronger. I am the sweetest, most loving boy. I love attention, but sometimes don’t like sharing it with my fur siblings, even though i get along with other dogs quite well. I also love exploring, smelling, and investigating. Because of this, you can’t leave me outside unattended as I like to wander. A yard with a fence would be great, but not necessary if you never leave me alone. I am a foodie too, love food, but I need to keep a steady weight because being too heavy is bad for my back. I love to be outside and go for walks, though I go pretty slow, and my walk is pretty sloppy still, but walks help me go potty often.
Because I am still healing, I need a special person(s) who will continue my therapies until I am strong enough and fully recovered. Sometimes you may need to carry me because I get tired. Also, I still can’t go potty by myself all the way, so right now, I need your help with emptying my bladder and bowels. It’s not hard, and my foster mom can teach you.

I love people, which probably includes kids, but because of my back, I need to be handled very carefully. So, I need kids that can understand that, so maybe ages ten and up.
I can’t be allowed to jump up or off furniture or climb up or down stairs, and you will need to make sure I don’t fall off anything or I could reinjure my back.
When I am fully recovered, I will need to have a dental and a neuter done.
I’m just a very special pup looking for a very special person(s), asking them to love me forever. Are you my forever?

*Manny is being fostered in the Hartland, WI area.

*Manny has a dental and neuter appointment at the end of May, to give him more time to heal.

Additional adoption info

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue providing compassionate care to special needs, senior, and hospice dogs.

Our adoption process begins with a completed application. From there, we will review references and vet records. The next step is a home visit with your family. This visit may be in person or virtual.  At that point, if approved, we will set up a meet and greet with available dogs.

All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted.

Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee.

-Applications with incomplete information will not be processed.
- All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative.
- All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam.
- None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone.
- You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point.

Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.

More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets.

Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
