My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome pup is Dexter and he is a young, sweet, and funny fellow who will bring joy to your days. Dexter is a cattle dog - lab mix and just 9 months old. He weighs 30 pounds now and will probably be about 40 pounds full grown- the perfect size to take on romps around the neighborhood or hikes in the mountains. He's a bundle of energy, always ready to play and explore. He loves playing with toys and other doggy friends, and he'd love another playful dog in his forever home. A yard would be great too! He's a friendly soul, always ready to make new friends, be it humans or other animals. He's not just a pet, he's a companion, a confidante, a source of endless entertainment and unconditional love. Dexter is looking for an active person or family to adopt him and take him on lots of adventures!

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
