My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sweet Pea and I am truly a sweet little pea! My story began about 5-6 years ago when I came to live with a family who had way too many dogs. They could not afford to spay and neuter and so a lot of us had puppies over and over. Now I am with Critter Cavalry Rescue and they promised me a better family life ahead. I am a Dachshund/Terrier mix and I weigh 22 lbs and could probably walk a few pounds off this Spring and Summer with an active and fun person that would adopt me. I was terrified beyond words when I first moved from my overcrowded home to this nice new foster house. But soon I have realized I am safe and well fed and that these people are very stable and will get me to the vet when I need to go. I am housebroken, ride just fine in a car and I am going to love to sit on your lap and make you feel loved and cherished by ME! I do not like to walk on a leash. I can learn if you are patient to teach me but I think I initially need to go to a home with a fenced yard and then learn how to walk nicely there in the backyard. It is not biggie but right now it kind of isn’t a fav thing to do. Other than the leash, I am pretty perfect! I am healthy and I love to give kisses and adoring looks to my fav humans. Most all our dogs are fostered in Tennessee and transport up to the Northeast or New England. Our fees start at $500 and can be higher depending on the dog and circumstances for their vetting. All fees cover the health certificate, transportation up to designated places for families to pick up their pre-adopted dog, spay/neuter, rabies, all shots, fecal and dewormings, microchip, complete vet check up and 4 way heartworm test if dogs are older than 8 months.

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website.
