My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Starla

Starla | Female | 7months | Walker Hound | Dogs: Yes | Cats: Possibly | Kids: Yes

Starla is an incredibly sweet, energetic pup! She absolutely adores other dogs, and she would thrive in a home with a doggy sibling or two. In fact, Starla has been in foster at a doggy daycare since her rescue, and she’s having the time of her life! Starla lives to run and play with her friends, and then crash on the couch for cuddles… She LOVES to snuggle up! She will even tuck herself under the covers with you for utmost comfort. She’s an awesome little snuggle buddy.

Starla adores people; she’s exceptionally friendly and outgoing. Affection is one of her favourite things in the world; cuddles are the name of her game! Starla would be good in a home with kids (older, dog-savvy kids would be best) but her adopters should understand she’s still a puppy that will need continuous guidance and training to help her be her best self.

Starla is a very active pup who will need an active home and a securely fenced yard to run around in… she absolutely loves to run! We think she would thrive doing agility, bike joring, lure courses, that sort of thing. Or, even if you’re just looking for a jogging buddy, Starla is the gal for you!

Rescued from a neglectful situation, Starla has since received all appropriate vetting, and she’s well on her way to reaching her target weight. Starla had received very little structure or training in her previous situation, but she is working hard on learning to be a good girl inside the house and out. We have been focusing on basic training (obedience, house, and crate training) as well as correcting undesirable behaviours such as counter surfing and jumping up when overexcited. Starla is a very food motivated, eager-to-please pup who simply needs a bit of direction at times. But what puppy doesn’t?

Cats: Starla has previously lived with cats. A typical energetic puppy, she wanted to play with them and was occasionally too rough for their liking. This can easily be mediated with patience, training, and supervision.

Starla doesn’t really like her crate but does tolerate it with some crying. Being a hound dog, Starla’s adopters can expect the typical vocalization from her. She does have that hilarious, comical hound howl; it mainly comes out when she’s playing.

Starla is up to date on all vetting, microchipped, with zero health concerns. This is an amazing, beautiful pup who’s ready to take the next step and find her happily furever after… Could that be you? Apply to adopt!
