My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

About Me:
This guinea pig is bonded with Sven 901595, so they are looking for their new family together! Sven is the black one and Maximus is the brown and white one. Together they make a calico of colors who will be colorful additions to their new household. They have been around children so should do well in an active household that understands and respects pets. They are easy to pick up, they enjoy some petting and have no behavior issues. Guinea pigs are generally low maintenance pets who entertain without asking for much back. What they will need is a dedicated space of their own - maybe a large cage or enclosure. They will like time out of their enclosure to stretch their legs, run around and delight you with their antics. They will cuddle a little in your lap but will also want their private time and space. They will need space for hiding, eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom. They will like hay and fresh veggies and fruit. And toys, lots of them. If you come to our small pet room in our new adoption center in San Diego you will see the perfect setup for guinea pigs. Think two guinea pigs might be a good addition to your household? If so, come and ask an adoption counselor if you can meet Sven and Maximus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
