My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved.

Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive.

She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but can fly to a Canadian home near you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We screen all applications and in most cases require a home check prior to placement. An approved adoption application must be on file before meetings are set up, as our dogs are in foster homes. We charge a $550 USD adoption fee. We routinely follow up with a visit or at least a phone call after placement. We solicit follow up photos and publish adoptions in our weekly newsletter.

More about this rescue

PVCA Animal Rescue is the sister organization of the SPCA Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. We facilitate the transportation and adoption of rescue dogs into loving forever homes. PVCA is a network of volunteers, transporters, and foster homes. The mission of SPCA de PV is to help fund and promote sterilization, adoption and healthcare efforts for companion animals in the Puerto Vallarta area, with the goal of eliminating the euthanasia of healthy and adoptable animals. SPCA de PV is not supported by the government, corporations, foundations or businesses. The dogs & cats of Mexico are too often found living on the streets after being discarded and/or extremely abused. We devote ourselves to their physical and emotional rehabilitation and invite everyone to come and interact with the animals at our sanctuary. Compassion Knows No Boundaries!
