My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A FRIENDLY, SMART, & ACTIVE GIRL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 68 lbs.

Hi there!  My name is Mariah!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so happy to be on the journey to my new home.  I am a super active girl who is ready for a fun life with a family that loves training and exercising with their dog!  I was adopted for a short time, but it wasn’t a good fit for me or the family, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for a great home!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program, off site, so please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I have met all kinds of dogs at Mostly Mutts and in the prison foster training program and enjoy playing with them very much!  If you have a dog at home already that would like a big playmate, let’s meet and see if we’ll be good pals! / I haven’t met kitties yet, so let’s meet. / I really liked the 8-year-old and 12-year-old girls that were in my former foster home, so kids around those ages may be a good fit for me, but best no little children since I’m a larger and enthusiastic girl.  Let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The key to my success is exercise and a good leader – this is a must as I’m a big strong girl!  I love to go to the shelter play yard and chase after squeaky toys and balls that the nice volunteers throw for me.  This really helps me get my energy out and is so much fun!  I REALLY need daily hikes or doggy daycare-type activities!  After some activity to expend my energy, I am a sweet girl who is calm for my cuddles – then it is back to play time!  I’m a happy, very active and playful girl ready to learn! / My energy level is 7-9, so make plans to be active with me on a regular basis.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and accept nice strangers without jumping.  My leash manners are good when using a gentle leader, though I do get very excited when I’m outside on the leash, so I’ll need a family that can help me with that, and the Mostly Mutts trainers will be happy to show you how to do this and work with you.  I also know some tricks!  / My former family reported that I liked my crate and I’ve done well with it in the prison foster/training program too. / I have had good potty manners in the prison/foster training program and in my former home too on a good schedule.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to go on trail walks and splash around in any body of water we can find.  I love toys (especially squeaky toys and balls) and mental stimulation games like treat balls and puzzles are my favorite!  I do cuddle when it is time to recharge my batteries, so save both cuddle and play time for me.  Treats are great – especially those Pup-Peronis – yum, so let’s use those for lots of fun and continued training! / I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m on a medication called Fluoxetine, so just ask about that.

I’m looking for a family that will lead and train me well and that will be active with me.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
