My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy is a sweet, but very shy liver and white 3 1/2 year old brittany. It takes a while for him to warm up to someone, but once he does, he is kind and affectionate. The best home for Buddy would be a patient home that has experience with bringing a shy, tramatized dog out of his shell.  Buddy is submissive and just needs a lot of love and reassurance.

His confidence has grown in the last few months, but he still has a way to go. Having a safe place is important. He likes to sleep in his crate with the door open, and is getting used to being in a closed crate when his people are away. Buddy is learning to play and play is an essential part of his ongoing training. He also requires a lot of exercise to build his physical and emotional state, so a yard is necessary for Buddy. He loves to be outside and a kiddie pool is his favorite in summer.  An older, calmer dog would be best, if there is another dog in the home. Buddy doesn't choose to interact until he feels entirely comfortable.  Buddy is very low energy.

His requirements are small, a safe place, patience, play, and exercise. With these, he will continue to improve and soon become a normally adjusted dog and a wonderful addition to a family.

Please consider adopting Buddy. He's healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives and microchipped. He weighs 32 pounds and is located in NW Georgia. Buddy can be transported up to 1400 miles to his new home, with the adopter driving the last 100 miles. His adoption fee is $400.

Please submit an adoption application at www.nbran.org and mention his name if you are interested in adopting him.  For any questions, please email Karen Carr at kecarr72@icloud.com or Jessica Stevenson at  jessica@thesouthernway.com

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee ranges in price depending on the age of the dog. The fee includes all shots, neuter/spay, heartworm test and microchipping. If a dog is under 6 months old, we charge a spay/neuter deposit which is refundable upon proof of the spay neuter. We have an adoption application to be filled out at which time a coordinator will contact the potential adopter for a phone interview and arrange a home visit. We also complete a vet check.

More about this rescue

National Brittany Rescue & Adoption Network (NBRAN) is an alliance of dedicated Brittany rescue volunteers who share a deep love for the breed and who will work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Brittanys in need, whether abandoned, lost, stray or surrendered to rescue for placement. As volunteers united in a common cause, we are committed to the care of these dogs in foster homes, and providing for their physical and emotional needs. We are committed in our endeavor to help them with all the resources we have available.

We pledge to maintain a community of volunteers who treat each other, and the dogs they rescue, with respect, courtesy, kindness and love. We will seek always to lend encouragement and to support one another, and to facilitate friendly collaboration and cooperation between our volunteers. We believe that by building a supportive, dog-centered organization founded on respect, honesty and integrity, we will always remain focused on the welfare of the Brittanys entrusted to our care and hold their interests uppermost in our hearts and minds. Our mission is to place these dogs in safe, loving and permanent homes with approved applicants, and to provide a supportive network for our volunteers, who after all, make our goals possible.
