My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hailing all the way from island of Antigua, feast your eyes on Cedar, a shy but VERY sweet 3-month old, 10-pound (as of 5/1) Retriever mix who is ready to plant permanent roots in the USA!

Cedar’s come a long way since first arriving in NY and is quickly becoming the dog he was always destined to be. Kind-hearted and considerate toward humans of all ages, once Cedar knows you, you’ve got a buddy for life. With other dogs, it’s love at first sight and no introduction is needed. Cedar just wants to play with every canine he meets, and he is well-liked by all.

Housebroken and pad trained, Cedar knows where and when to go potty. He loves spending time in an enclosed yard, exploring the wonders of nature while taking in the fresh air. He gobbles up treats, he’s got a good appetite at mealtime, and he responds to the command sit. With additional training , Cedar is capable of learning soooo much more.

It is likely this gentle boy had limited exposure to humans before arriving here, but Cedar is beginning to understand that petting feels great, belly rubs are wonderful, and snuggling is good for the soul. With just a bit of patience, socialization and encouragement, Cedar will continue to develop, blossom, and grow into the most adoring companion you could ever hope to have. What a prize this one will turn out to be!

Krislyn & Blacky
We were looking for a small dog, but couldn't find them. We went to the desk to ask the worker lady. She led us to a fenced in gate with three dogs. We chose the Black one and named it Blacky.

Caroline & Stella
On November 17, 2019, we drove three hours to pick up Stella. Being in the car all day was a small price to pay for the amazing dog we got out of it! She is really sweet and good with kids, and taking her on daily walks has really kept everyone in shape. Even the people who at first had reservations about adopting a dog agree that she is the best thing that ever happened to our family.

Rebecca & Duke
We adopted "Raydom" back in the Spring of 2017 from Kritter Kamp rescue, we renamed him "Duke". We could not love this special dog more! He is a loving member of our family and he is with us as much as possible. He loves to do whatever we are doing, loves to cuddle, and fiercely protects us. He is playful and fun all the time. We love him to the moon and back, thanks Kritter Kamp for our awesome family member!

More about this rescue

PupStarz Rescue is an animal welfare group committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats in public shelters at high risk of euthanasia, as well as those in danger of abuse. We are committed to rescuing as many animals as possible, saving over 2,600 dogs and cats since 2015.

PupStarz Rescue is a foster-based rescue, relying on fosters to open their homes and lives to our Animals. Animals in our care receive proper medical care, including alteration, vaccinations, and microchipping.

Following a thorough screening, our animals are placed in loving, responsible, committed forever homes. PupStarz Rescue ensures that adoptions are an appropriate match for both the animal and their new family by educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a furry companion into their lives.

We are committed to the welfare of our "Starz" beyond the adoption process. We maintain open communication with our adopters to ensure a smooth transition, and offer additional support such as positive training techniques.

Founded in 2015, PupStarz Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, no-kill, animal rescue organization.
