Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"My name is Scarlett, named for my silky beautiful red hair. I am 6 1/2 years old and I weigh about 35 lbs. My story wasn’t as beautiful as my hair, until recently. I was used for breeding my entire life. I produced so many beautiful little ones, and I pray that they’re all safe and loved. Now it’s my turn to feel safe and loved, and it was so scary at first, when I realized I was free from my duties. I felt lost and insecure. People wanted to touch me? And it had nothing to do with my babies? You see, I was saved by a rescue who wanted me. They got me a surgery so I won’t have any more babies, my body is tired from years of that. I first went to a wonderful foster mom, who patiently and lovingly showed me that I was finally going to be loved. Now I am being fostered in the Orlando area, with a family with a child and other dogs and a fenced in backyard! My morning ritual is zoomies in the yard and on the back patio after breakfast. I hop like a bunny all around and enjoy all of the smells in the yard. I adore leash walks too. I can pull a little on the leash, in my excitement to take in all of the smells - but I’m a good girl and try not to pull too hard. I’m potty trained but I do need to be let out or taken for a walk after my meals and even in between. I’m good with other dogs. I’m good with all people, I’m a bit slow to warm up. Meeting new people is still a new experience for me. I do love to cuddle, once I warm up though! I am up to date on vaccines, had a dental, on heartworm preventative, and microchipped. I do require daily eye drops but they are not expensive."
Scarlett's adoption fee is $350. Scarlett also requires a fenced-in yard.
SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama, and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida, you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm testing. Please be able to provide proof of purchase of heartworm prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed, and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted.
