My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mugsy is a short Boxer/Pitbull. He is just a year old and approx 45lbs. He is a sweet, sensitive soul. Mugsy is shy at first and takes a moment to warm up, but he gets along with everyone and loves to cuddle! He would spend all day snuggling if he could! He is definitely a lover not a fighter. Even when dogs don't like him, he still wants to be their friend. Although snuggling is his most favorite pastime, he also loves to play! He is very goofy, loves toys and enjoys wrestling with his dog pals! He also gets very excited for food! Mugsy acts very much like a big puppy! Unfortunately, he doesn't know his size, so he can be too rough for small dogs or toddlers. Mugsy went through some trauma when he was just a few months old and hates being alone now. He needs a home with someone home often or someone who wants a companion to join them wherever they go! Mugsy is great in a car and well-behaved in public. He has been to many restaurants and sits like a gentleman! His separation anxiety is really the only issue! But, it's so severe, he is currently on anti-anxiety medications for when we have to leave the house without him. When he is alone, he whines and drools in his crate. We expect that would be the same in his next home and are hoping to find somewhere where he wouldn't need to be left alone often. If he was in a home better suited for his needs, we think he could be weaned off of the meds because he is totally fine the rest of the time! If you decide to keep him on the medication, it only costs approx. $10 a month. If it weren't for this one behavior, Mugsy would be perfect! His foster told us he is the sweetest dog she has ever met! She really wanted to keep him but knew he would be happier in a home where he could spend his days hanging out with his family. Mugs gets along with kids, cats, and dogs, knows basic commands, and is housebroken! He does well in a car and walks nicely on leash. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you think your home might be a good match for Mugsy, please submit an adoption application on our website at www.dominoeffectanimalrescue.orgApril 21, 2024, 4:08 pm

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Go to our website to fill out an Adoption Application! We will review your app and, if your home is a good match for the pet, we well email you to set up a meeting with your family and current pets. If all goes well at the meeting, we offer a foster to adopt program where you can take home the pet you're interested in for up to two weeks to make sure he/she is a good fit for your home and is welcomed by your other current animals. We just ask that you leave the adoption fee as a deposit before taking your pet home. Any time within the two weeks, if you decide the pet is a perfect addition to your family, let us know and sign the Adoption Contract, we will hand over all vaccine paperwork, and the pet is yours! (If you decide the pet is not for you, the deposit will be returned in full)

$400 for puppies (6mo or younger)
$350 for adult dogs
$250 for senior dogs (8+years)

Go meet their pets

Potential adopters must submit an application before setting up a private meeting with that specific animal. Once application is reviewed, we will email to make arrangements to set the date/time. We ask that the entire family and current pets are present. Meetings are held at the animals location or at your home. We also have adoption shows occasionally where you can come down and meet some of our adoptable pets. Please check our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dominoeffectanimalrescue to find out when our next show will be!

More about this rescue

Domino Effect Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non profit, no kill animal rescue located in Temecula Valley, California dedicated to saving the lives of animals in county shelters. By taking in some of these homeless animals, we hope to ease the overcrowding in shelters which leads to euthanasia. We provide care and love to all animals that enter our rescue as they await their loving, forever homes. Each animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and examined by a licensed veterinarian. Some animals require more medical care than the basics and we help them heal so that they can live healthy lives with their next family. We also work on basic obedience and socialization skills to help each pet develop desired behaviors for their future family.
