My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Meet Bun Bao. A precious 3 month old Pitbull possibly Dogo Argentino mix who narrowly escaped the euthanasia list at Fort Worth Animal Control Center. Overlooked and alone after she watched as her siblings were tagged by rescue, she was spared just in time by the steadfastness of a dedicated volunteer.

She was NOT on the website nor was she being networked to hopefully get her out of the shelter. Her sister (also on the EU list) who looked exactly like a baby version of my resident dog and bff, Phoebe. Was being networked by Code Red Dogs of FWACC. They were on the EU list due to a URI (upper respiratory infection). A simple cold should not be a death sentence for a young pup.

Bun Bao’s sister was rescue tagged, yay! But they left her poor sister, Bun Bao behind. Seemingly, no one knew she existed. Until a good friend and dog hero that volunteers at the shelter, went to check on them and saw her.

We brought her home, bathed her, and put her in quarantine.

Now, this once-shaky pup is a bundle of love, showering gratitude with every kiss. Her journey from fear to flourishing proves that #fosteringsaveslives "

Cody's adopts dogs in the greater DFW area and does not adopt puppies under the age of 6 months into apartment homes.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................
