My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hilary-May!

Hilary-May came all the way from Houston, BC to find her furever home! Having gone through a big adventure to get to our branch, Hilary May is a bit overwhelmed! She is happier with her buddy Haylee and will need to be adopted together! She is very timid and will need a quiet home where she can gain her confidence back and feel safe! Her foster home says she follows her around and is very curious. She does play lots with Haylee! She was housed with other cats and would probably do well in a home that already has some furry kitty friends! If you are willing to take a chance on this shy sweet girl, apply today!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
