Reno is a young, high energy, high drive working line German Shepherd Dog. He absolutely requires an experienced owner. He would not do good as an active pet, he is only available as a sport or working prospect. He would most likely excel as a single purpose K9. He loves to play and engage with toys and has endless hunt drive. He also loves food. He is still a puppy and learning the world. Clear-headed, stable, and people friendly. Can be trained to be more neutral. No noise sensitivity. Adapts quickly to new environments. Clean and quiet in crate but does have some FOMO which can also easily be trained.
Sports-wise he would be an excellent beginner dog. He would love to participate in Fast Cat, barn hunt, scent work, dock diving, and obedience/rally. He’s your do-it-all guy.
Reno would love to have one or two young and similar sized playmates in his new home but can do ok on his own with enough enrichment
He is currently going through heartworm treatment. He is a very mild case and will recover quickly. His new adopter will need to follow through with his treatment which is covered by the rescue.

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We have a virtual home-check process (don't forget to submit photos of the exterior of your home!) Adoption fees range depending on the age of the dog. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Since all rescue dogs live in foster homes, there is no single facility to meet pups.
You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog after you have an approved app on file. Apps can be filled out at ewenityfarm.org

More about this rescue
We are a small, foster-based rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one-on-one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.
It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
