My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Minerva, a 4 year old Doberman who has a happy tail wag everywhere she goes. Let us tell you more about her:

• She’s a smarty pants! She already can sit on command and is motivated by treats, which means when it comes to learning more commands at home he will be eager to please!
• Playful - she absolutely loves his play yard time. She will spend hours just sniffing every corner, smelling plants, grass and chasing after a tennis ball.
• Dog friendly - she already has a doggy roommate at AAC and she’s a popular guy at playgroup. Looking to add to your dog pack? Minerva might just be the perfect sister. To ensure compatibility, we will host a doggy meet up between your resident dog!
• Medium energy - She has a well balanced temperament. She loves play time but also is content chilling on the ground with a toy. We think she will adapt well in a house hold with a nice mixture of activities and down time.

Are you looking for an athletic, well mannered and smart pup? Come in today and adopt or foster Minerva.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
