My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Dante. I need help. My human mommy passed away a few months ago. When she did, my friend (her neice), took me me to her house, where I live outside or in the garage. No one else would help me then, and she was the only person in the family that had a yard. I like spending a lot of time outside, especially on pretty days, so she and her family took me in.

I just hear her talking with her husband... he has accepted a job in a place far, far away. They are going to sell their house here, and in the far away place, they are going to live in a place with no yard, and no room for me! They are trying very hard to find a safe home for me before their house is sold, and that's why I'm listed here on Petfinder, because the nice people at SPCHS agreed to help. But they don't have a foster home for me to go to either. So... if you can help me, by providing a place for me to live, if even for a short time while I wait for the right furever home to come along, I will be VERY grateful!

I need a home with a yard, a family that can love on me. I'm awesome kids of all ages. I get along great with neighbor's dogs and my mommy's niece has 2 cats that I don't mind being around. I'm never aggressive to new people -- I just want to love them and for them to love me right away. So I knoooow I can adjust to a new family. If you are willing to foster me, SPCHS will pay for everything -- vetting, food, toys. Better still, if you adopt me adopt me, I PROMISE -- I WILL LOVE YOU FUREVER.

I'm some kind of Aussie mix, and weigh about 65 lbs. I am up to date on all my shots and am scheduled to be neutered soon.

The application process....

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:

1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:

* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.

4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.

If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.
