My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bootsie is what we call a Pocket Shepherd. She is so much more petite than she looks in the pictures, at only 24 pounds and seven months old! She will be maybe about 35 pounds in a compact little solid body. Bootsie is house trained and crate trained. She is a snuggly little girl who has found her fondness for socializing with other dogs and lots of people. She loves the other dogs in the home and does very well with the seven year old child in the house. She would enjoy another fun dog around, as she and the other pup in the house have become besties, but she is also just fine being the only dog in the house. She loves getting pets and will sit forever if someone wants to pet her, and is such a loving, gentle girl. She is even more beautiful when you see her, and she is going to make an incredible hiking buddy and snuggle bug!

More about this rescue

We are a dog rescue focused on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations and the nearby border towns. At LightShine Canine we bring the heart of the Lakota and the needs of the dogs together. Our goal is to rescue stray, abandoned, injured or abused dogs on the Pine Ridge Reservation with the help of Lakota youth and adults working on sobriety...and to find these dogs forever homes. Our adoption fees help us continue to do this and to provide community outreach to Tribal members in the form of dog food, vaccines and spay/neuter. Our dog rescue work program is geared to ensure that the dogs we rescue and the Lakota who assist us with this dream are changed forever.
