My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Life is GOOD! I am a really happy-go-lucky boy who weighs about 25 pounds and just turned a year old. I was adopted as a puppy from the rescue, and went to a family who decided puppy energy wasn't something they were interested in dealing with. I was kept gated in a small section of the house and wasn't allowed to interact very often with my human parents or my human siblings. Thankfully they reached out to return me recently, and now I'm getting a second chance to find a family who wants to love me as much as I love them.
My (foster) mom takes excellent care of me while I'm waiting for my own family. She takes me on two walks a day, she throws the ball for me, and she takes me for "roams" so I can sniff. I'm a Hound mix and love, love, love to use my nose! Sometimes I howl like a Hound, too, but mostly I am quiet and enjoy just watching the world. I'm really good at following the rules in my foster home and am happy to get love or treats as a reward. I'm working on learning how to ask to go outside, but am doing great with only pottying outside. Since I'm still a young boy, I like to chew and I love to un-squeak the squeaky toys. When it's time for bed, my mom asks me to go into my crate and boy am I glad because I really like to sleep. I have great dreams of chasing squirrels and sleep until mom says it's time to get up in the morning.
I love meeting new people! I like to play with kids, probably because I'm one myself. I haven't met a cat yet, but I am respectful so will do my best to let them play with me. Sometimes I howl, but usually I'm quiet and just like to watch people (not in a weird way). My foster mom said most dogs don't howl, so I'm S-P-E-C-I-A-L.
I'm just a young guy so mom says I can't be trusted to make good decisions. She said I need to be watched until I am at least a teenager. She may be wrong on that, since it doesn't sound like teenagers make good decisions. But, anyway, I guess she wants someone to take care of me the way she does. She says I'm practically a perfect boy, and she doesn't understand how my last family didn't love me enough to keep me forever, but she's sure that another family is out there for me.
All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.

Additional adoption info

Due to recent events, we use discretion when adopting to a home with children under the age of 5 and to an adult under 23. This does not mean you are automatically disqualified, but we may require additional information.

The adoption fee for all animals listed depends on the breed/species, age, vet care, cost to pull from the kill shelter, worming medicine, flea medicine, vaccinations, micro chip, etc. The adoption fee BARELY covers all of the previous mentioned expenses. Please do not ask for us to lower the fee.

All adopters must fill out an application. Please note: Once you submit an adoption application, it could possibly take up to 10 days to process. Thank you for your patience. Please email us for an adoption application at rescue@mbrohio.com or submit on our website http://www.mbrohio.com/adoption-application/

Go meet their pets

The dogs listed on this site are located at various foster homes throughout Ohio & some are located at a private boarding facility. Anyone wishing to visit one of our dogs or other animals must first complete an application and be an approved adopter before scheduling an appointment. Majority of scheduled appointments take place at a boarding facility in Grafton, Ohio

Please make a note that we do not transport our animals to you; you would need to come to Grafton Ohio to meet and possibly adopt.

More about this rescue

This site supports a small group of people who try to help as many animals that we can that have been displaced. All of the animals are checked by a vet, altered and updated on all vaccinations prior to going to a home.

We are all volunteers who do the best that we can with the limited funds and resources available to us. We give the potential adopter as much information as we can, including copies of all vet records but we normally do not know the history of the animals, as they are strays at the pound or taken by a humane officer from poor living conditions. Very rarely do we have owner releases. Most dogs in our program were minutes away from being put to sleep so the pound could make space for more strays.
