Name: AlvinBest Guess for Breed: German Shepherd/Shepherd mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of April 2024SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 75 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested
Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!
Alvin is Looking For: His forever home! This sweet gent needs a new home through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans - German shepherds are known for being quite attached to their people! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on his wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days.
Shelter staff say he's very easy on the leash and very good with other dogs. He's in his prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into his new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty he is storing up for his new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
