My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Diesel is 2-year-old 54 lb lanky bully breed mix who originally came from Caddo Parish Louisiana -- adopted as a puppy and returned two years later due to divorce. Diesel has gone to doggy daycare at Bonafide Dog Ranch and does well off leash with other dogs. He is not leash reactive but has not lived with another dog recently -- dog introduction included for potential adopters. We don't recommend cats. Diesel has lived with young kids and loved them. He is crate trained, house trained and knows basic obedience. True to his guardian breed he can be protective of the house particularly if he thinks that's his job. He would do best with a large dog savvy owner comfortable being a good leader for a large powerful breed.

Diesel loves to cuddle and play with toys, and has a goofy personality. He would like to have his own yard for running and playing. He warms up quickly to new people and -- like all dogs -- thrives with boundaries and leadership.

Foster Update:   What a dreamboat- good with kids, good with dogs, doesn't chew non-toy things around the house, hangs out in his crate with the door open... the list goes on. He walks well on the leash, though sometimes struggles with impulsivity when there is a crow, a cat, or a squirrel within reach. He's friendly to everyone, but he'll bark at strangers in the house if he's crated and can't say hello. In the short time he's been here, we've gone on a picnic in a park and to a busy brewery. Everyone he's met so far has been impressed .

He's an athletic pup with soft fur and legs for days. He enjoys jumping on things- people, counters, and once I found him perched on a little table in the backyard! We're working on that. He'll play ball forever if you let him, though ignoring him results in a destroyed tennis ball that he will still bring to you to throw. He responds well to corrections, and is relatively food-motivated. He can be pretty vocal (e.g. barks when he's happy, or wants to get out of the crate, or when people walk by the backyard), and can get the mad zoomies, so probably would do best in a house with a securely-fenced yard.

He’s got the sad puppy eyes down pat, but don’t let them fool you! He’s a happy guy with lots of love, and licks, to give!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.

Animal History: Diesel fka Almond joined us in March 2022 from Caddo Parish shelter in Shreveport LA, was fostered as a 9-week-old puppy and adopted to a family who owned him for two plus years before returning him to the rescue due to divorce. He lived briefly with two young boys in his home. He is currently being fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption after decompression and evaluation.
