My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benassi has tried the single life and now wants to be part of a family.

He is a superb guy who loves absolutely everyone and everything and will fit into a home where he has ample opportunity to share his affectionate nature. Benassi loves toys, making noises and grunting sounds as he gets lost and fully absorbed into his playing mode.

He just loves people, laps up all the cuddles and affection he can get! Extremely active and good on a lead, Benassi would make a good family dog, but is best suited to a family with bigger kids as he can be bouncy and just so, so happy.

He's very motivated to learn, has good eye contact, super smart, and treat motivated. He knows sit, paw, and catches treats. He can soar to greater levels with an owner who could help him become his full potential.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
