Urchin is cute, scruffy, playful, loving, and entertaining--he would make a delightful addition to any home! He also happens to have a special condition with special needs: Urchin was born with a congenital defect to one of his heart valves, which causes the heart to work harder than normal. He has no signs of heart disease at this time, and is living a great happy life!
He is luckily scheduled to have surgery to repair this defect on May 30, and would love to get his furever family lined up to care for him through surgery and beyond! The surgery is NOT open heart surgery, so recovery should be pretty straightforward. It is expected that he'll live a normal life and have a normal lifespan after this surgery, though it's always possible that it won't be quite as successful as we hope. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about this!
If you have questions regarding Urchin's condition, reach out to our Shelter Medicine team at sheltermed@eastbayspca.org. We are looking for a family to foster Urchin through the time of his surgery and then adopt. Primary Color: Black Weight: 8.2 Age: 1yrs 1mths 1wks
