My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mairabel!

Mairabel entered Chula Vista Animal Care Facility as a stray. When she wasn't claimed, we scooped her up on April 17th to become a Frosted Face. She is 8 years old and weighs just under 12 lbs.

Mairabel is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn what she is like in a home while she gets extra TLC. Her Fling Family reports:

"We've had Mairabel for a little over one week now. We've started calling her Mara as a nickname, or Mara with the MIttens because of her adorable white paws. We suspect she was called Chica at a previous home because she responds to that.

Mara is both cuddly and playful! At home she is a constant companion. She actively seeks to spend as much time on either of our laps as she possibly can. She will reliably jump up to us as soon as we sit down, or while we are sitting down. She also enjoys chasing her ball and chewing on toys. She always sleeps on the bed with us at night.

She is mostly house trained. She came to us knowing how to use pee pads and has not gone on the floors at all. She is good about going quickly in our yard if prompted. Mara is happy to sleep at home if left alone for an evening. She prefers wet food, but happily eats dry food. She was very excited when we made a separate portion of unseasoned chicken for her.

Mara has a slight guard-dog attitude. She will bark if she hears noises outside and occasionally reacts to dogs or people while walking. She has never been aggressive though, either with dogs or with us. We also cat tested Mara quickly! As you can see she mostly did well. She was interested in playing whereas our cats were not, but overall got along fine.

We took her out to brunch and a car show in Coronado last weekend and she did well - even though she got tired. She was eager to beg for food from the table but mostly polite. She does not like walking long distances. We think she had fun though!

Mara would be a great addition to any family. She is very sweet and has a lot of personality."
