My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Snowy! This unique looking gal was surrendered to our rescue partner from a hoarding case when they thankfully realized they had too many animals. Not sure if her head is too small for her body, or her body is too big for her head... But she looks slightly more proportional in person and sure is cute with those floppy ears!

Snowy is a bit shy at first, having come from a home where she was not properly socialized. She warms up with treats and patience!

From her amazing foster: "Snowy is an independent but loving girl. Her arrival was challenging, she was in full flight mode for the first few days, lots of panting and pacing, but AAAR partner vet prescribed some anti anxiety and it has worked magically. She's still generally a bit skittish but no longer panicked. Full dose seemed to make her a bit lethargic, but half dose seems to be her happy place. She LOVES being outside, rolling in the grass, exploring the yard, and even occasionally chasing a ball. She figured out the dog door the very first day and has not had a single accident in the house. She loves the freedom of being able to go in and out herself. And she gets zoomies in the grass!! She does wonderfully in her crate. Won't go in it voluntarily but once in, she settles immediately and doesn't make a peep all night. Larger dogs and sudden movements are what seem to make her most nervous. She seems less phased by loud noises but still uncomfortable. She doesn't ever seem interested in interacting or playing with either of my dogs, but happy to be amongst them. She had absolutely no issues with my 12lb dog from day one, completely unphased by her. However she was terrified of my 40lb dog, baring teeth, cowering, freezing anytime she came near. We took our time introducing them very slowly and after about 3 days and the help of the medication, there were mutual butt sniffs and inspections and she now understands my dog is not a threat and we spent all day yesterday letting them roam free in and out of the yard and house with not a single issue. So she just takes time and patience with new things. She loves a comfy bed in the house and also will come sit with me on the couch and ask for snuggles and love. There's a lot of tail wagging and she's very curious. My husband also discovered she is an expert at catching treats. She's not a great eater, she'll eat a few bites and then loses interest, I've had to hand feed her a bit to get her to eat it all. I suspect she would be a great free-feeder, but that's not possible in my house. She's getting comfortable practicing leash walking in the yard, but I haven't tested outside the yard, as I'm still a bit nervous she'd be a flight risk if spooked. She's obviously never walked on a leash before, but she's starting to understand as long as I don't try to force her too much. She's skittish around my husband, but if he just gets low and offers a treat, she will come and say hello. She's even still skittish around me if I move to fast or unexpectedly, but it seems like a gut reaction that she turns around and recovers from quickly and comes to get love instead. She's incredibly sweet and showing signs of a very cute terrier personality. She's just going to take someone with patience and a generally calm demeanor to give her time to adjust to her forever home. I fully expect once she's confident in her surroundings, she can be weaned off the meds pretty easily. I would recommend a home with no small kids. I don't know about cats, but my suspicion is she would just ignore them. In general, once she's comfortable, she a very easy and loving yet independent little girl who will make someone a great companion!"

ADOPTION FEE: $425

We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event.

Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications.

We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend!

All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue, and do not currently have a location. To meet or adopt any of our dogs or puppies you will need to attend one of our weekly Saturday adoption events. You must be present at the event to adopt a dog. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-approved applications are required in order to adopt at the event.

We start marketing our available dogs and puppies BEFORE they arrive in CO to work on finding them their forever homes as quickly as possible and to decrease the amount of times they have to be moved around. Most of our dogs and puppies are NOT in CO when they are posted on the website.

ADOPTION FEES***:

Why aren't rescue dogs free?
Because it takes a lot of time and money to get them to our rescue, vetted and ready for adoption. You are not paying a fee for the puppy, but rather a fee for all of money that went into the dog to get it to us, fostered, vetted and ready for adoption. All of our adoption fees include: age appropriate shots, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance.

Why is there a price range for each adoption category?
Adoption fees can vary slightly per dog based on their breed. The more desirable breeds will have a slightly higher adoption fee on a tiered system. Bronze- $25 more, Silver- $50 more, Gold- $75 more

Unaltered Puppies (5 months and under)
$500 to $575- Our puppies that arrive unaltered are not going to be fixed since research shows that fixing them before 5-6 months is detrimental to their health and development.

Altered Puppies (5 months and under)
$550 to $625- These puppies arrive to use already altered!

Young Adults (6 months to 1 year)
$500 to $575

Adults (1-5 years)
$425 to $500

Older Adults (5-8 years)
$375 to $450

Seniors (8+ years)
$300 to $375- Occasionally fee decrease will apply here on a case by case basis

Step 1 – Fill Out An Adoption Application
Please fill out an application online, which can be found under the adoptions tab. Applications must be filled out in full and electronically signed or we will not review them. Please allow us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you. You will receive an email back from us letting us know if you are able to adopt or not. If you fill out an application less than 24 hours before one of our adoption events, do not expect to get a response back from us before the event.

Step 2 – Placing a Dog or Puppy on Hold
We are able to hold one dog or puppy per approved applicant to give you the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that puppy. Dogs on hold will only be held for the first hour of our adoption event from 10-11am. After 11am all dogs will be available on a first come first serve basis. A dog is not on hold for you until you have received a confirmation email back from us letting you know that your application has been approved and you have confirmed that you will be at our adoption event to meet your chosen dog.

Step 3 – Attending an Adoption Event
Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 10am-1pm at Petco (2211 S College Ave) and our AAAR office (1721 W Harmony Rd Unit 102). Occasionally we have them at different locations, so keep an eye on our social media pages for more info! If you have a dog on hold a volunteer can help you locate that dog and you get the next hour to socialize with that dog and decide if it is a good fit. If you do not have a dog on hold, you are welcome to come meet our dogs that do not have holds on them, but dogs with holds will not be available to meet until after 11am. Volunteers will be happy to answer questions and help you introduce the dog to your current dog(s), kid(s), etc. Once you are ready to adopt there will be more paperwork and an adoption fee. Be prepared to take your pup home with you that day!

Step 4 – Adopting
Even though you have already submitted an application online, there will be more paperwork required to make the adoption official. You will need to complete all of the required adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.
