My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella is a parvo survivor!! This beautiful gal was surrendered to our rescue partner with parvo but has since beaten it and survived! She is the perfect example of why vaccines are so important - a simple and inexpensive vaccine could have prevented her from experiencing a horrible virus that could very well have taken her life. Now that she's recovered, Stella is ready to find her forever home!

From her current foster: " Stella is the sweetest, smartest, and most loyal dog I have ever met in my entire life. She brings joy to everyday like I could've never imagined. I never thought it would be so easy to get attached to a pup so fast. I can say the same thing about her. It took her less than 1 hour to completely warm up to me and from that point on she could not let me out of her sight. Stella loves to play off leash. She enjoys the retrieval part of fetch but not the returning part (for sure something she can be taught). And of course she loves treats and toys. She is very food/treat motivated, and she loves to snuggle up close when it's time to be lazy (she wakes up when you wake up, I woke her up at 5am one morning and 11am the next, both times she was very compliant). She is for the most part potty trained, unless you wait until the last minute of her ability to hold her bladder. With that being said I have found that she gets anxious when trying to potty in busy or loud spaces, often resulting in a no result potty trip. If she is in a spacious, quiet, and calm area she will pee and poop instantly. She does extremely well with all kinds of people, all sizes of dogs, babies and cats. However she does not seem to like fast moving things. Cyclist's, skateboarders, or even people that are running almost always get aggressively barked at. She has a tendency to lightly bite/nip when she thinks it's time to play. Nothing painful but nonetheless, not a good habit. She is high energy but that is expected for a German of her age. She doesn't have a problem with her crate, she even sometimes will voluntarily hang out in there, however she does have a problem being alone. Her anxiety and verbal and physical responses sky rocket if you leave her in her crate unattended. Crate training I would say, is her biggest weakness. With all that said, Stella is genuinely the PERFECT dog. If my personal situation allowed I would be keeping her without a doubt.

From Stella's previous foster: "Stella is a very sweet girl. She's very shy at first, but once she warms up she will steal your heart. All she wants to do is cuddle and be next to you! She's also very smart and knows the command "sit already. we are working on leash training and potty training now."

ADOPTION FEE: $500

We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event.

Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications.

We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend!

All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue, and do not currently have a location. To meet or adopt any of our dogs or puppies you will need to attend one of our weekly Saturday adoption events. You must be present at the event to adopt a dog. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-approved applications are required in order to adopt at the event.

We start marketing our available dogs and puppies BEFORE they arrive in CO to work on finding them their forever homes as quickly as possible and to decrease the amount of times they have to be moved around. Most of our dogs and puppies are NOT in CO when they are posted on the website.

ADOPTION FEES***:

Why aren't rescue dogs free?
Because it takes a lot of time and money to get them to our rescue, vetted and ready for adoption. You are not paying a fee for the puppy, but rather a fee for all of money that went into the dog to get it to us, fostered, vetted and ready for adoption. All of our adoption fees include: age appropriate shots, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance.

Why is there a price range for each adoption category?
Adoption fees can vary slightly per dog based on their breed. The more desirable breeds will have a slightly higher adoption fee on a tiered system. Bronze- $25 more, Silver- $50 more, Gold- $75 more

Unaltered Puppies (5 months and under)
$500 to $575- Our puppies that arrive unaltered are not going to be fixed since research shows that fixing them before 5-6 months is detrimental to their health and development.

Altered Puppies (5 months and under)
$550 to $625- These puppies arrive to use already altered!

Young Adults (6 months to 1 year)
$500 to $575

Adults (1-5 years)
$425 to $500

Older Adults (5-8 years)
$375 to $450

Seniors (8+ years)
$300 to $375- Occasionally fee decrease will apply here on a case by case basis

Step 1 – Fill Out An Adoption Application
Please fill out an application online, which can be found under the adoptions tab. Applications must be filled out in full and electronically signed or we will not review them. Please allow us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you. You will receive an email back from us letting us know if you are able to adopt or not. If you fill out an application less than 24 hours before one of our adoption events, do not expect to get a response back from us before the event.

Step 2 – Placing a Dog or Puppy on Hold
We are able to hold one dog or puppy per approved applicant to give you the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that puppy. Dogs on hold will only be held for the first hour of our adoption event from 10-11am. After 11am all dogs will be available on a first come first serve basis. A dog is not on hold for you until you have received a confirmation email back from us letting you know that your application has been approved and you have confirmed that you will be at our adoption event to meet your chosen dog.

Step 3 – Attending an Adoption Event
Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 10am-1pm at Petco (2211 S College Ave) and our AAAR office (1721 W Harmony Rd Unit 102). Occasionally we have them at different locations, so keep an eye on our social media pages for more info! If you have a dog on hold a volunteer can help you locate that dog and you get the next hour to socialize with that dog and decide if it is a good fit. If you do not have a dog on hold, you are welcome to come meet our dogs that do not have holds on them, but dogs with holds will not be available to meet until after 11am. Volunteers will be happy to answer questions and help you introduce the dog to your current dog(s), kid(s), etc. Once you are ready to adopt there will be more paperwork and an adoption fee. Be prepared to take your pup home with you that day!

Step 4 – Adopting
Even though you have already submitted an application online, there will be more paperwork required to make the adoption official. You will need to complete all of the required adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.

More about this rescue

Every year thousands of puppies and dogs alike are euthanized due to overpopulation and overbreeding in various states. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for both pets and people through the process of matching adoptable animals with their forever homes.
