I currently weigh around 40 pounds, I could use to gain a little weight, but I am a very nice size for those wanting a smaller/to medium size companion. I am playful and loving but unfortunately, I have tested light positive for heartworm. I am currently looking for a foster home or foster with the intent to adopt until I have completed my treatment.

Not much information came with me when I arrived at the shelter except, my owners could no longer care for me, and very little vetting was provided while in their care. I have had at least one litter of puppies, but I am now spayed, and I feel so much better. I would do best with a physically fenced yard (I may require it). I walk well on a leash, and I appear to be house-trained.

Pending a meet and greet, I may match with another dog. I have not been tested with cats yet but can be with an approved application. I would do my best with children 10 yrs. and older. I will make a great companion for the right situation.

Processing takes 3-5 business days. We are currently not scheduling any visits without an approved application.

3.
Meet the Pet

After approval, we will schedule you/your household to visit + meet the pet of interest.

4.
Take the Pet Home

At the end of your visit, we would be able to complete adoption papers + you will take your new companion home!

Additional adoption info

All adoptions begin with an application on our main website, HSSCM.ORG.
Once your application is competed and submitted, processing generally takes 3 business days- pending our schedule and the number of applications ahead of yours. Once processed we will contact you and, if approved, will set up an appointment for an adoption counsel. If you are looking to adopt a dog and have a current dog in the home, we will require a match-up before finalizing any adoption.

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!
