My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BARRY ALLEN.... superhero of winning hearts. This 8 mo old pup learned about abandonment early in life.... Adopted as a puppy in another city, re-homed and lastly cruelly dumped in a field near our shelter... frightened and alone, it took 2 days to coax him to safety. Now his loving spirit and true colors shine during playtime with dog pal Cora and walks and cuddle time with his human friends. He's still a little shy in kennel but Barry has a superpower - the ability to capture human hearts.
8 mo old, male, mixed breed, ~40 lbs, nice medium size, Soulful, sparkling eye Dog friendly, LOVES people, sweet smooches, Great walking partner and even better snuggle buddy, knows sit.
Barry's story underscores the remarkable resilience of dogs. He dreams of that forever home, so come meet Barry and you just might experience his "superpower" and brighten your life.

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
