Abbie is a sleek little short-haired tabby, but you can see the family resemblance between her and her sister Maggie. Abbie is the more outgoing of the two kitties and takes really good care of her sister Maggie. They love each other dearly, and would love to be adopted together. They make a beautiful pair, and have been a great comfort to each other during the recent passing of their owner.
They are young enough to still be playful, but are calm and well-behaved. They had such a fantastic home with a cat mom who loved them dearly and who they loved back unconditionally. They are in a very nice foster home, but I’m sure that they are still very confused by the sudden change in their happy lives.
These girls are beautiful and easy to deal with, so if you have it in your heart to give them both a second chance at happiness, they will give back much more in love and companionship than they will require. They have both been microchipped, fully vetted, spayed, and treated for fleas, ticks, worms, etc. Please apply for them at Bedford Humane Society. They will give you so much joy in return.

We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.
After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 and dedicated to eliminating the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Bedford County, VA through education, spay/neuter programs, and companion animal adoptions. We are NOT the tax-funded Bedford County shelter on Falling Creek Road, although we do try to help the animals there whenever possible. Our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes where they receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting a permanent home.
Our various programs for Bedford County and City of Bedford residents include::
•A low cost spay/neuter program for area pets
•The construction of a no kill animal shelter, The Vernon D Lybolt Adoption Center, at 829 Ole Turnpike Road in Bedford.
•Find homes for abandoned and homeless animals through our adoption and transport programs.
•Help pet owners with unexpected expenses involving their pets, through our Emergency Fund program.
•Provide humane traps and spay/neuter subsidies for feral cats through our Forgotten Felines program.
•Humane Education program for area Scout troops and schools.
