My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Potato was brought in by his previous owner on April 13, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Potato! This cute little spud just loves to be held and pet. He also seems to enjoy being groomed and brushed! Guinea pigs, like Potato need an extra-large enclosure with a lot of ground space (10+ square feet) to run around and stay healthy. An easy and inexpensive way to give your guinea pig a DIY palace is called a C&C fleece lined cage (google it!). Potato will need unlimited timothy hay to munch on, extra space to run around in, and toys to keep them active and enriched! Healthy greens, veggies, and pellets are also an essential part of their diet, as well as a daily dose of vitamin C! If you'd like to learn more about adding Potato to your family, come in and ask about them today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
