My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
Located in Troy, MO

Preference:
Canine Companion or kids

Topaz is our big boy puppy weighing in at over 8 lbs at 3 months! He will be a bigger Shihtzu as an adult.

Topaz is a playful and ornery little puppy that likes to dart in and out of people's feet making him a trip hazard for someone with mobility problems. He likes to play, play, play and play some more!

He loves playing with the other foster dogs in the house and has sharp little puppy teeth. He has a sweet side too and enjoys a few minutes of cuddle before he is off to see what mischief he can get in to. Topaz is a good eater and loves treats. He should be easy to train.

Topaz was treated for Giardia, a common parasite found in puppy mills. He has completed his meds, but his stools should be rechecked in 30 days if symptoms appear.

Topaz's adoption is $500. He is current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and on monthly heart worm prevention. He has not been neutered due to his age. A neuter contract is required and covered by LHCR if using our vet in Troy, MO. Visit leiashope.org for next steps.

PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
