My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Mr. Miyagi was brought in by a community member on April 1, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Are you ready to add a touch of zen and a whole lot of charm to your life? Say hello to Mr. Miyagi! Despite his dashing good looks and undeniable charm, Mr. Miyagi is a bit of a shy guy at first. He's a master of the art of patience, preferring to take things slow and steady. He believes in the power of choice and prefers not to be pressured into interactions, opting instead for a gentle approach with yummy treats and tantalizing wand toys to win him over. Adopt this one-eyed wonder today and prepare to embark on the adventure of a lifetime - don't forget to bring a secure cat for a safe transport home!

FIV: Mr. Miyagi has tested positive for FIV. FIV causes cats to be less able to fight off infection, but with good care many FIV+ cats can live their normal lifespan. Preventive care is especially important: regular veterinary visits, good dental care, and a non-raw food diet. FIV can only be transmitted to other cats and therefore they should only live indoors and with other FIV+ cats or be a single cat. We sincerely appreciate adopters that are willing to provide special homes for FIV cats and will gladly waive the adoption fee!

Virtual Behavior Consult for Shy/Fearful Cats:  Mr. Miyagi requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
