Louie is a large, Sable boy, about 4 years old. He was picked up as a stray, and his owner failed to reclaim him from a local shelter. Louie was a staff favorite during his time at the shelter, and was described as a "big happy boy".
Louie can be a little zealous when first coming out of the kennel and needs to be reminded that jumping up with excitement is not appropriate. He can be a bit too excited when meeting other dogs, as most don't appreciate a dog, especially of his size, rushing into their personal space.
Louie appears to be housebroken, and likes the safety of his kennel and crate. He sleeps quietly through the night, and retreats to his crate often. New situations can cause him to slink to the ground, and cautiously proceed. He will look to his human for direction and will recover nicely. Louie will gladly put his huge head in your lap for attention, and loves belly rubs.
He doesn't appear to have much prey drive, but has not been observed with cats or small critters. Louie is looking for a home with a family that will continue with his socialization and basic obedience training.

Understanding Dog Levels
Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. (https://www.gcgsr.org/dogs.html#levels)
Additional Adoption Information
For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (https://www.gcgsr.org/adopt_info.html) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state.
Puppy Requirements
We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy (https://www.gcgsr.org/puppies.html) email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information.
