Pumpkin was one of several neighborhood strays. I had begun feeding her mother and tried to become friendly with her but she would not let anyone get close enough to touch her. Weeks went by with her coming by to eat daily. Then one day another cat followed the mom and this one allowed me to pet it. Both returned two more times and then one day the mom stopped coming but the baby kept coming back. After asking some neighbors, we learned that Pumpkin was one of two kittens and that the mother had not been seen in at least 2 weeks. We thought we could adopt Pumpkin and invited her into our home. She visited a vet and had her vaccinations and was spayed in December 2023. Pumpkin has become a fun and affectionate young cat that loves to play and be petted. Unfortunately we are not able to continue caring for her and I did not want to just put her out of the house or call the county animal shelter. She is litter box trained and is fine indoors but enjoys being outside.
