My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Libra is a beautiful female Great Pyrenees looking for a foster or forever home. She looks all Great Pyrenees but it's possible she could be mixed with something else. She is all fluff and needs to put on a little weight. She was recently groomed and looks just gorgeous!
She is a snuggle bug who loves being with her people but is also content to snooze during the day. Libra is house broken, has been able to be in our spare room just snoozing during the work days for 4-5 hours and then goes on walks with our dog walker. She walks super well on a leash with a few minor corrections when she sees critters.

In true Pyrenese' fashion, she loves to patrol the perimeter of the yard and do great big warning barks if she sees dogs. She is super playful and likes other dogs. We call her our "alligator" because she does chomp everything in sight (nicely and just to put it in her mouth- not to chew!) as her way of playing.

She listens when told no and loves to play tug. She already knows sit, down, and "wait" for her dinner. She's working on "leave it" and not jumping when she's excited. She's very treat motivated and loves a good couch or bed to snuggle on. A family who is active, loves to take long walks or has a great big yard, and kids ages 5+ would be great for her!

Personality-wise, Libra is sweet-natured and friendly with people of all ages, including kids. She's also great with other dogs. Libra walks nicely on leash and is treat-motivated. She would love to meet you and become your foster or forever dog. Please fill out an application so you can meet her and see if she's the pup for you.

We make every effort to have each one of our available animals at a show each weekend. More about this rescue

We are in need of Foster Homes for our homeless animals!!! Can you help?

What is a Foster Home?
A foster home takes in one of our homeless animals rather than boarding them at the kennel and cares for it until we find a permanent loving home. Almost Home Foundation pays for the all animal's food and medical expenses. The foster home learns the animal's temperament and behaviors. The foster home learns if they get along with other animals. The foster home provides insights on the animals that helps Almost Home Foundation look for the right home for the animal.

Please help!! Just fill out this form and we will contact you or call 630-582-3738 and leave a message letting us know that you are interested in fostering!

We are an all-volunteer, registered, not-for-profit 501c3 animal rescue group. Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from being destroyed by finding permanent, loving homes. For details, visit us online at www.almosthomefoundation.org.

Almost Home Foundation is always looking for volunteers to handle dogs at adoption shows, set up adoption shows, write for the newsletter, photograph events, or foster animals. For a list of opportunities, visit online at www.volunteermatch.org
or www.almosthomefoundation.org.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are a Rescue not a Shelter. This simply means we do not own a building where we house animals. We look for loving foster homes that will give temporary care and love on the animal’s journey to a permanent, loving home. When a foster home is not available, we will board the animal at a boarding kennel.

Our 5-year goal is to have a shelter. This is an aggressive goal that will take many donations and memberships. We will strive for this goal with a great team of volunteers and help from people like you! Please become a member, become a sponsor or make a donation.

Our animals are found strayed and brought in from the police. After being held for 7 days, we evaluate the temperament of the animal and determine if the animal is suitable to be a pet. On rare occasion, we will also rescue animals that are in desperate situations where the rescue makes the difference between life and death. We do not accept Owner Give-ups.
