My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org

Carl - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life!

I am with another rescue that is having a family emergency. If interested in adopting me, Hay Dude Rescue will pull me into their rescue to complete my adoption.

I am Heartworm positive and have been started on treatment. Heartworm medication will be provided to my new family.

Carl is a fun, young (2 years old?), little guy. (He weighs 20#) We didn't DNA him, but he makes us wonder if he is part Whippet because of his long legs and how much he loves doing zoomies! He also has many Jack Russell traits. He is quite a character. He loves to run and play, but if you want to have cuddle time, he is happy with that too. He'll even let you hold him on his back like a baby. He needs to go to an active family as well as one that is willing to set ground rules for his antics.

Carl has been diagnosed with heartworm infection. Dogs acquire heartworm infections when they are bitten by a mosquito that was infected with heartworm larvae. He was given a Proheart 12 shot in April to start the "slow kill" method for destroying these worms. He will not need more heartworm prevention until October at which time we will test him to see if he is negative.

Dogs with heartworm infection live happy, high-quality lives as long as they are given appropriate care. Heartworm infection is relatively common in the United States so we are in need of caring adopters like you that are willing to open their home to a dog with heartworm infection. We think that our heartworm dogs have just as much to offer their new adopters as any other dog and they deserve a chance at life. Adopters will receive all the necessary medications needed to complete the heartworm treatment protocol.

Are you in search of a family addition that will be there by your side, a constant in your life thru all your daily going on's? A BFF to share your joys and sorrows? WAIT, stop scrolling, Carl is that fella!!!
