My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Sharky, the most loveable cat you’ll ever meet. He is extremely cuddly and loves to be held like a baby. He sticks his chin up (did you notice the little heart design?) to get kisses, and gives kisses back. Sharky will follow you all around the house to get your attention, sometimes getting a bit in your way. You see, Sharky has a very mild case of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, also known as CH and wobbly cat syndrome, that makes him just a bit unsteady on his back legs. It does not prevent him from doing anything, and we think it makes him even more adorable. When he runs, his back legs tend to pop up in the air, making him look like a baby goat. The condition is nothing to worry about, as it does not get worse with time, and it does not need to be treated.

Sharky has lived with other cats and dogs, and is a friend to them all. When our cat lounge was open, and kids visited, they naturally gravitated to him. He would definitely benefit from having some small human friends or another friendly and energetic animal in his new home. Sharky can easily play on his own as well, and should have a lot of toys available to him.

If you are wondering how he got his name, it is because when he first came to us as a single kitten, he loved to bite anything and everything. So it is what his foster mom named him. He has since outgrown this behavior, after being around other kittens and learning how to socialize properly.

Sharky is seven months old, neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $140. He is currently residing in a foster home in Manhattan.

If you would like to adopt Sharky, please complete our adoption application on this site, or message us for an online application link.

More about this rescue

Our mission at One Goal Animal Foundation is to provide for rescue, foster care, and adoption of homeless cats and dogs. While adoption is an ideal outcome for rescued pets, it does not by itself solve the problem of homeless animal overpopulation. Therefore, we provide low-income communities with help towards the cost of spay/neuter procedures and microchips. Our TNR program covers the full cost of spay/neuter surgeries of community cats and supplies food to colony caretakers.
Our mission further expends to facilitate enduring relationships between pets and people by providing financial assistance to pet owners in need. By helping with the cost of veterinary care, spay/neuter, grooming, food, and supplies, we strive to keep pets out of shelters and with the owners who already love them. When people are facing economic distress, they are often forced to surrender their beloved pets to shelters, leaving both animals and people suffering. We believe that when we show compassion to both humans and animals, we foster the special bond between people and pets, and ultimately improve the lives of both animals and humans.
