Dog located in this city: Deland, Florida
Dog’s Name: Moe

Dog’s Breed: Black lab/Border collie mix

Dog’s Age & Sex: 9 years, male

Dog’s approximate weigh: about 60 pounds

Animals story: (where found and reason for rehoming):  We took Moe in from my cousin when he moved and couldn’t keep him; we’ve had him for about 7 years. A lot has changed in our lives in the last several years, including babies, moving, loss of jobs, and owner health diagnoses.   We just cannot care for him the way we once could
Personality: Moe, has a heart of gold. He is loyal. He is always up for affection and attention, and he's not afraid to push his way to the front of the line to get it. Despite his loving nature, Moe has a few anxieties - thunderstorms and being left alone can cause him distress, and he'll often express his discomfort with a high-pitched whine. But don't worry, treats and snacks are always a great comfort for Moe, who has a voracious appetite and loves to chow down on his favorite snacks. Overall, Moe is a loyal, loving, and playful companion who will bring joy and laughter to your life.

House Trained and/or crate trained? Yes, both

Any bad habits or things that need to be worked on with him/her?  At random times, he will chew on things. One time it was a shoelace, once the corner of my comforter, once the cushion for the dining chair. We have not noticed it associated with any behavior issue, and it just seems random and very seldom. When it's time to leave the house, Moe is trained to retreat to his crate, which provides a sense of security and helps alleviate his separation anxiety.

Dog good with kids, cats, or other dogs? Moe is very loving of any and all human affection, loves our children.  He has done well with a kitten age up to 1 year old cat. Moe has not had much socialization with other dogs. He has been homed with a medium sized dog for about 7 years and they bonded well. We cannot attest to how he will do with other dog sizes or breeds.

Animals vetting history (neutered/spayed, vaccinations, microchipped)?:  microchipped and neutered. Moe has had several ear infections in the past and had to have surgery once about 3 years ago for an ear hematoma

Any Supplies that go with pet (food, leash, collar, bedding, toys): Any food that we have at the time of adoption
will go with him, his leash and collar.

More about this rescue

Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
