My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harley is a very loving kid who was found as a stray. He is shy but friendly. He rode well in his finder's car and then was invited to hang around for a week. He was nice to the resident dog and playful with the teenagers. He is politely interested in the other shelter dogs. He weighs 27 pounds and is cooperative and easy to handle. He is jumpy, curious, and happy. He is still working on house training so please be patient with him. He is submissive, curious, and quiet. He is affectionate and likes to give kisses and hopes you'll give him a lot of belly rubs and pets. Please offer sweet Harley the home and family he deserves. (tw 4/21/2024)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
