My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tink is a 3-year-old, 18-pound Lhasa Apso/Havanese mix (our best guess.) She’s a phenomenal dog—well-behaved, affectionate, smart and absurdly adorable.

Tink came to us from an owner who was no longer able to care for her. She had been living in a car. At first she was very shy and stand-offish, but with a couple of weeks of food and love, she has come around nicely and is a normal, fun-loving dog. She’s very fond of stuffed toys and loves to play fetch, whether indoors or outdoors. If you are not outside, she prefers to be indoors with you. When she goes outside to do her business, she likes to be let in immediately after.

Tink lives in a foster home with 5 other dogs and she gets along well with all of them, although she would prefer to be an only dog, or perhaps have one playmate. She’s not a lap dog, but she would very much like to sit beside you on the couch while you rub her belly and tell her what a pretty girl she is. She’s a great TV watching companion.

Tink has her manners down. She is housetrained so well she will come and tell you when she needs to go outside. She has a particularly disarming sitting pose (see photos) that means either: 1) Take me outside to piddle. 2) Feed me. Or 3) Pet me. She rides well in a car. You can give her run of house when you’re gone; she will not destroy anything—not even her toys! She sleeps on an ottoman beside the bed. She would prefer to sleep in the bed, but dogmom already has 4 dogs in the bed and does not want 5. She can be a little barky—for example, when some other dog has the audacity to walk down the street outside her window. For that reason, we don’t recommend her for an apartment.

While Tink is happy and comfortable with people she knows, she is leery of strangers. She does not show any aggression, but she backs off from attempts to pet her. She would be okay in a house with teenagers, but no younger children. Her ideal living situation is a calm house—not a lot of traffic—with a person or couple to love and dote on her, and where someone is home during the day.

Tink’s adoption fee is $275 and includes spay, all puppy shots & microchip. We have had her groomed. She is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication.

Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
