We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.
We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.
Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.
Looking for an energetic, loving and happy pup? Meet Bolt! This handsome guy is always smiling and wagging his tail. Bolt is the perfect dog for an active adopter. He would love to join you on jogs or hikes. He is wonderful with young children and other dogs. Bolt is an all around happy dude looking for his forever home!
Story | Bolt was saved from the euthanasia list in a high kill Texas shelter.
Other Dogs | Friendly! Bolt is a playful boy who likes to run and wrestle with other dogs. He does not like to share toys with unknown dogs, so be mindful to remove high value items like bones and balls during introductions.
Cats | Unknown.
Children | Bolt is affectionate with all humans, including kiddos. He is currently in a foster home with two young children (6 and 10 years old). He loves cuddling with them and giving them kisses. He would love a family with kids!
Training | Bolt is super intelligent! He has great recall and quickly learned to sit. He is eager to learn more and loves treats!
Leash | He pulls when excited, but is overall manageable on leash. He will continue to get better with practice
Activity Level | Medium-high. Bolt is an active dog that will benefit from regular exercise.
Health Notes | Bolt is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Bolt!

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).
Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.
Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.
We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
