Milano is a very sweet little guy with some very big medical issues!
This 7 year old maltese mix has never really had proper medical care. He came to us with a heart murmur, nails so long they were curling all the way around, unneutered and with a large perianal hernia causing him to have a hard time going to the bathroom. He's going to our vet for a full work up, but his recovery and treatment/management of his issues will take a while. We would love to find a committed local foster that can take care of him through his surgeries and treatments so he doesn't need to recover at the shelter, and bring him back for his medical follow ups. He's been a very sweet agreeable guy, has lived with dogs and cats previously and is social and sweet meeting people. He's under 10lbs full grown. Please submit a foster or adoption application if you would like to open your home permanently or temporarily to little Milano Primary Color: White Weight: 9.75 Age: 7yrs 0mths 1wks

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
