My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Halibut was brought in as a stray on 1/20/2024.

At SDHS:
Halibut is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Halibut, a young adult seeking a serene home. While he's shy with new people, he's sweet and affectionate once you gain his trust. Although we don't have information about his past experiences with dogs, he has shown excitement and playful behavior towards the dogs he has met in our care. We believe Halibut will thrive best in an adult-only environment where his boundaries are respected and he can solicit attention at his pace. If you would like to give this boy a calm and loving home, he will reward you with his limitless loyalty and affection!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
