Meet Gigi! Gigi is special needs as she has no use of her back legs. She is 25 pounds and estimated to be four years old. We belive Gigi is Beagle mix with maybe another type of hound in her. Gigi takes a breif moment to warm up to other dogs but she has really done wonderful with all other dogs she has met. She also has done great with all the human friends she has met, big or small and loves nothing more than to be cuddle against her person! Gigi is experienced in using her wheelchair and when she is not in her chair does not try to remove her drag bag or diapers, she typically prefers to not be in her wheels though! Gigi was brought to us all the way from Honduras and from what we know she has not had use of her back legs for most of her life, which is why she may like being out of her wheels more often than not, she is accustomed to it!. She is actually so skilled at her current condition, she has learned to use her back legs for balance to stand upright! Gigi is truly such a happy girl and enjoys all life has to offer. Gigi had bloodwork and a dental cleaning at her recent vet visit.
This is what our friends from Honduras had to say about Gigi, they spent a year and a half with her there!
This long-legged lady is one of the most resilient and “zest for life” dogs you’ll ever meet. Gigi hails from a shelter in Latin America, where she anointed herself as Queen Bee. She is super friendly and outgoing, and has never met a stranger. At the shelter, Gigi believed that everyone who came to the shelter was there to meet her - we’re surprised she didn’t have a head shot with autographs!
Gigi was hit by a car when she was young, and is paralyzed in her back legs. But don’t tell her that because she has places to go and people to see! While she has wheels and braces to help her zoom around thanks to the show Wizard of Paws (where she will soon make her tv debut), Gigi is also just as happy to pick herself up and motor around on her front legs. Watching her zoom around is nothing short of entertaining and inspiring.
Gigi is friendly with dogs and cats, and has a special place in her heart for Flaming Hot Cheetos. That and shimmying herself up to you for attention and pets.
Interested in becoming a forever home for Gigi Honduras? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application.
Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws .
We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Gigi Honduras.
We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Gigi Honduras the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us.
Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.
All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
