My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Penelope Petunia Peachtree, a gentle soul with a heart full of love. Penelope is a quiet, reserved cat who enjoys the simple things in life. She loves curling up in a cozy corner with a warm blanket, and she has a soft spot for quiet afternoons and gentle petting. Penelope may be shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she's the sweetest companion you could ever ask for. She's got a lot of love to give, and she's waiting for the perfect person to share it with. Penelope Petunia Peachtree would make a wonderful addition to any home looking for a loving, low-key companion.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.

More about this shelter

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.

Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.
