My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You just have to meet Josie once to know that she packs a whole lot of love and affection in a very small package. She is looking for her special person or family, and once she finds you, she will attach quickly and just want to be wherever you are, snuggling close or playing by your side. You will fall in love with Josie’s expressive nature – she often looks up at you as if she’s grateful to be rescued and knows how lucky she is.

Josie loves stuffies of all kinds, so be prepared to have lots of those handy. She completed a successful surgery on the hard chew toy to remove the squeaky, but just loved on the soft stuffies, and enjoyed a delicate game of tug with those, snuggling on top of them afterwards. You will want to make sure this happy girl has plenty of stuffies to choose from – she will love on them all! Josie enjoys playing with people and other dogs as well – she has a puppy foster sister and would fit right into a house with other dogs easily.

Josie’s foster mom tells us that she is an amazing car rider – she just sits still and watches out the window, so we think she’d do great on long or short trips, perfectly happy just to be along for the ride. She also does great in the bath – she just stands still and lets you do all the work, enjoying the best spa day ever.

This gentle girl has a very calm and relaxed nature – she isn’t barky or jumpy, even when she could hear other dogs barking in the next room. She was cautious and aware when walking past other dogs but didn’t bark or otherwise react – she’s such an easygoing girl to have around.

Josie has a short shiny black coat with pops of white – a delicate stripe along her nose and chin, at her chest, and the cutest white ‘boots’ on her paws! Her black and white outfit looks quite elegant, especially when she does the perfect ‘sit’ at your feet. (She already knows many commands and is clever enough to pick up more quickly.) She loves attention of all kinds – chest scratches and belly rubs, solid pats on the side, whatever love you give her, this affectionate girl will give you right back!

Josie is currently about 2 years old and just under 30 pounds – she’s a lot of joy in a tiny package. We think she may be a petite Pittie/Lab mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess! What matters most is that they are adorable and are one the MOST desperate in the entire US based on statistics for where this dog is from. Shelters in this area are having to euthanize dogs, so this dog needs you! If you choose a dog from this rescue, it saves his/her life as well as the life of another in its place.

If you are looking for a calm and affectionate petite little pittie mix, you have absolutely found her. Gentle Josie is ready for adoption now and is sure to attach quickly and be your very grateful new best friend!

If you have any questions about Josie or would like us to test her for a specific setting or detail, please be in touch! We can make most anything happen to ensure she is the correct fit for you and your life.

Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
