My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jax is a 14 week old Border Collie mix puppy located in Fayetteville, NC. What he is mixed with what is a total guess. All we know for certain is that Jax is 100% adorable and ready for his forever home.

Jax is currently 22 lbs of fun, smart, eager to learn puppy. Jax is medium to high energy.
He is very velcro and sticks close to his people and doggie friends. He loves cuddles, belly rubs and gives the best puppy kisses. His tail never stops wagging. He's one very happy go lucky boy.

He loves playing with toys and running zoomie laps around the yard with his foster pack.
He does great with sharing his toys with other dogs, too.

Jax will need his adopter to be willing to give him outlets to burn off his energy and to work his smart mind so he doesn't spend it himself in a destructive way. While he is high energy, he does settle and will happily entertain himself with toys or a good nylabone as long as his activity needs have been met.

Jax is teething and does require the occasional redirection to chew on appropriate things, but does so easily. He is also doing great with learning the command for "leave it". He really is a very smart boy and is learning puppy basics quickly.

He loves to work for treats and positive praise.
He is making great progress with house training, but will need his adopter to understand that he is limited on how long he can go without a potty outing.

His bladder is still growing along with the rest of him. Jax is fully crate trained and sleeping through the night. He loves car rides.

The ideal home for Jax is with a person that is willing to continue positive based training and socialization exposure. A fully fenced yard is ideal so he can safely run out those puppy zoomies. Preferably a home with another playful dog sibling as he absolutely loves his foster pack.

Jax is not suited for apartment living.
He is great with children, but being that he is an energetic young puppy that is still learning to contain his excitement when playing and greeting people, children 5 years and up would be best. He has not had exposure to cats.

He is up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly Heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He will require neuter per our contract after 6 months of age. There is a $50 neuter deposit that will be refunded upon proof of neuter.

Jax is one amazing boy and is so full of potential. If you think he's the one for you, please submit an application at the link below.

More about this rescue

Nancy Pearlman-Gonzalez, Founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the education, rescue, fostering and adoption of the Australian Shepherd breed of dog.
In July 2012, Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF) initiated as a page on Facebook. Hoping to have 1,000 members at the end one year, ASF quickly grew into a network of more than 58,000 dedicated individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
From these phenomena, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed to educate the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed, and provide resources to those seeking help or willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save and Foster (ASF) philosophy. ASF filed for non- profit status in July 2013 and obtained its status in July 2014 and through proactive networking, partnerships, training/rehabilitation and fundraising, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs to include those with Parvo, Mange, Tick Disease, Cancer, Pneumonia, broken limbs and some of the most extreme cases of abuse that one could imagine. ASF focuses on the Aussies that most would turn their backs on. ASF is in its 5th year and over 1,910 Australian Shepherds have been rescued from high kills shelters, abusive owners and other high-risk situations.
We, as humans, have a responsibility to uphold, shelter and care for those beings that are less fortunate, that are simply cast away. Thanks to proactive individuals who work collectively, Aussies nationwide are being given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Volunteers are an integral component of ASF for the maintenance of the website, screening potential fosters and adopters, providing training, fundraising, data base management, networking and transporting of recued Aussies. All Volunteers; Adopters, Fosters, Trainers and Transporters etc. are carefully screened and vetted to assure the safe and vital placement of these dogs into furever homes. We currently have over 170 foster families and over 160 dogs in foster care nationwide. We have professional trainers to work with our dogs with severe behavioral issues. We also have a team of Rescue Coordinators, Medical Advisors, Fundraisers, Regional Reps, Application Processors, Data Base Managers, Social Media Managers, Microchip and ID tag Registrars and Ground and Air Transport Coordinators that work together to save these beautiful dogs.
