My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sandy is a beautiful 1-2 year old Carolina dog. She weighs 43 pounds. Sandy loves to be with other dogs. She does have a tendency to jump on them and play a little rough though so she will do well with dogs who want to play too. She has no problems with cats and pretty much ignores them. She is medium to high energy but calms down after play and walks. She is very outgoing and prefers to be with people. She walks well on leash when there are no distractions but does start to pull when she sees another dog or person. She loves car rides and gets very excited. She loves having her head out the window. Sandy is using a crate and shows some resistance when first getting in but calms down quickly. She spends the night in the crate with no issues. Sandy is housebroken and will walk to the door when wanting to go out. She is currently a master of the sit command. She is doing well with lay and also shake. She loves playing with squeaky toys and stuffed animals. She will chase after a ball but will not return with it. Her ideal home would be a home that can spend lots of time with her, she wants nothing more than to be around people and not be alone. She is a very sweet dog and eager to please and a quick learner. She can jump lower fences. She either needs at least a six foot fence or no fence at all. She will do fine in a home without a fenced yard as long as she gets proper exercise. If you would like to meet her, apply at bcaaofnj.org

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.

We are the Burlington County Animal Alliance (BCAA)located in Central New Jersey. We are a non-profit organization 501(3)(c), all volunteer rescue that saves animals from our local shelter and surrounding areas of New Jersey that are in danger of being euthanized. We have 60 volunteers, many that open their homes to foster the homeless animals, we do fundraisers to raise money so we can continue to save the dogs and cats in need. We run strictly on donations from our adoptions and people who support our work.BCAA adopts to families in New Jersey, parts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New York.
